| For a long time photography was just something I used for reference when I was planning a painting. Then I started to incorporate the photos themselves into the paintings, scratching the surface and adding texture with sand, or paint. It was only after doing this for a while that I realised that I really enjoyed taking photographs for their own sake. I love the work of Martin Parr, in particular his gift for finding humour and lightness in often quite grim surroundings. |

In 2006, for my "A Day In The Life" show, I spent 24 hours on the streets of Liverpool, taking photographs of the city. I exhibited the photos at Almiro gallery in Waterloo, along with 24 paintings created using the photos as their starting point. Since then I've had a few photography exhibitions in Liverpool and Manchester, including "The Road To Rhyl", "Last Stand" and "The Lost Property Office". You can see more of my photos on my Flickr photostream. |
