In December 2006 Roy McCarthy became the subject of a documentary by Liverpool based independent film maker Martin Lappin. The film focused on a multimedia art project Roy was working on, entitled "A Day In The Life". Roy spent 24 hours on the streets of Liverpool, taking photographs throughout the day and night. He then brought the photographs back to his studio and worked on the surface of the prints, using paint, tape, sandpaper and plaster, creating truly unique works of art. He selected 24 pieces (one from each hour of the project) and displayed them at Almiro Gallery in Waterloo. The film was subsequently shown throughout April on the BBC Big Screens in Liverpool and Manchester.
Since then Roy McCarthy has collaborated with Martin Lappin on a number of professional film making projects, including 'Wild Times' and 'Guerrilla Negotiation Techniques'. They are currently working on a brand new venture, a comedy pilot entitled 'The Lifestyle Hour'.
